An entry for an 88-ft wide mural in the center of my town offends me. You can vote.

April 17, 2021 Update: I’m offended and sad that this is the message that Montgomery County agreed on to represent my home, Wheaton, to the greater metro area. Nicole: I enjoy and respect your other work; can you please consider an update?

Nicole Bourgea’s Entry for Montgomery County, Maryland’s Wheaton Mural Contest

It’s still bugging me. I can’t ignore Black and brown people entertaining a white boy in this mural contest entry for my city. …

“Hey Bear, make it look like you’re doing something smart.”

July 21, 2020

As both a Dad and a Google Partner, I know that setting up Google for Families can be just as tough as managing gSuite and Chrome for hundreds of employees — without help that is! This note is far from perfect, but I hope that it helps you and I hope that I can learn something from your comments.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, working and learning from home saves lives. It also saves you time and money from commuting on any day. We’re all learning, but even our preschooler is getting self-sufficient.

You’ve decided that you want to interact with your Salesforce data via REST. You want read, sync, or update records. Before you consider paying for a service or downloading a library to do these things for you, you want to see how things work and try to communicate with Salesforce yourself.

Among the many ways to connect with Salesforce, you can use OAuth to exchange your Salesforce credentials for an access token. Then, you can use that token to interact with Salesforce.

Disclaimer: Salesforce reminds us that this “special scenario” OAuth flow is not for everyone. It requires you to…

I appreciate reading about the pop music that my friends listen to for nostolgia, fodder for design work flow (Csikszentmihalyi), and procrastination/well-deserved breaks from work. I especially appreciate and look forward to Ian McCowan’s sorta-regular long format and Matt Price’s facebook posts. Someday I’ll find time to aspire to those levels and relate what I’m listening to to my life, but for now, these lists are a start. These lists are a kind of working note-to-self to build efficacy for more writing later.

A couple more notes before the lists:

  • I have always loved listing to albums in their entirety…

Remove the “invisible characters” notepad inserts at the top of the file in Nano or Text Edit or Sublime or Notepad++ or Microsoft owned editors like Atom or VS Code, or just throw your Windows out the window because your too lazy to care that it’s not Notepad’s fault that my.ini is not ANSI friendly and changing character encoding via the font>script menu is just weird.

In friendlier words, Aakash Goyal, reveals the culprit characters red handed.

My Mac’s host environment variable was set to x86_64-apple-darwin13.4.0. Seems like others have problems with it being set like this too.

$ env | grep HOST
HOST=x86_64-apple-darwin13.4.0

This causes npm startto fail in my Create React App folder.

Do you have multiple Google Accounts? Like school, home, work? Are you going crazy when Chrome keeps signing you out of your “primary” account? Or do like keeping your Chrome sessions isolated?

Take a look at:
chrome://flags/#account-consistency

If you would like to stay signed in to Chrome with one account, while logging into Google Services with multiple accounts, turn this off. Do this if you like to keep all your passwords tied to one account. This also solves the “problem” of paused browser syncing.

On the other hand, if you like to keep your browsing sessions (and passwords) between organizations separate, leave it on.
